Job Summary:
The Industrial Engineer Intern role is responsible for project-based work and operational support at both the system and facility level. The primary responsibility of this position is to progress high-value performance opportunities, as identified by leadership, that align with and ensure the achievement of Wellstar's Strategic Goals. This role will be closely monitored and supervised while working with leaders in the health system to analyze, develop, and improve processes and operations in order to promote and achieve substantial improvements in key measures of performance, efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, reliability, consistency, and quality.
Major areas of responsibility include: (1) facilitation of process improvement initiatives, data analyses, and discussions, as assigned; (2) participates in the development, coordination, and administration of evidence-based practice process improvement initiatives & activities; (3) partnership with internal customers (project sponsors and project managers) to ensure benefit realization.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Facilitates assigned improvement projects and initiatives by partnering with Director and business owners to establish project goals and expected benefits, timelines, and key milestones, then, with guidance from Industrial Engineering staff, drives projects forward through completion, ensuring that expected benefits are realized.
Collaborate with other system industrial engineering resources, performance improvement staff, and EPMO team members to assist with current to future state design, change management, implementation planning, simulation, and statistical modeling.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma General
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 1 year At Least 1st Year Complete with Bachelor's of Industrial Engineering program at an accredited university ( complete) Required
Required Minimum Skills:
Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Interested in an industrial engineering position in healthcare
Process Improvement - understanding core processes and tools to improve them
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Statistical Analysis software, and simulation software a plus
Experience working with cross-functional teams
