Job Description:

Join Merkle's growing content strategy team!

Join Merkle's growing content strategy team—a collaborative group of strategists, designers, and thinkers who believe content is central to great digital experiences. As a Senior Content Strategist, you'll report to the Senior Director of Content Strategy and serve as an individual contributor, guiding strategic content decisions across product and website design programs.

You'll lead the creation, distribution, and governance of audience-first content, working with UX, product, and design teams to integrate content into the customer experience. You'll also help grow our practice by building scalable systems, documenting best practices, and sharing strategic perspectives that enhance the role of content in digital design.

You'll help grow our practice by developing tools, documenting best practices, and sharing strategic perspectives. We're looking for someone who's excited to shape the future of content strategy with us—a builder and an expert.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead the development of content strategies that align with client goals, user needs, and brand positioning across digital products and websites.
  • You will collaborate with teams—including UX/UI designers, product managers, developers, and strategists—to ensure content enhances both product and website experiences.
  • You will lead or contribute to large-scale website migrations, consolidating multiple acquisition websites into a single, unified digital experience.
  • You will create content strategy frameworks and deliverables including audits, matrices, models, journey maps, sitemaps, and migration plans.
  • You will develop content strategies that serve multiple audiences within a unified site architecture.
  • You will shape content for B2B clients, in high-tech and financial services sectors, with attention to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • You will contribute to or lead information architecture development, including navigation structures and wireframes, with a focus on aligning content to user journeys and our goals.
  • You will define and manage content models within CMS platforms, ensuring scalable governance and reusable content types.
  • You will conduct and combine user research, data analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform content decisions that support usability, performance, and strategic outcomes.
  • You will design and implement scalable content governance models and workflows to support delivery and maintenance across complex digital ecosystems.
  • You will develop taxonomy, tagging, and metadata strategies to support structured, reusable content across platforms and channels.
  • You will conduct content audits to assess quality, identify gaps, and ensure understanding of brand strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • You will advocate for content as a core component of the product design lifecycle—from discovery and prototyping through launch and iteration.

Summary of Expectations

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience in a strategic content role, with a background in product design and website content strategy.
  • Experience leading or contributing to large-scale website migrations and consolidations across multiple brands or teams.
  • Expertise in developing content strategies for diverse audiences within a single digital experience.
  • Background in B2B content strategy for enterprise clients in high-tech or financial services industries.
  • Proficiency with CMS platforms, design tools, and analytics systems; experience with content modeling and governance frameworks.
  • Experience in content strategy, contributing to practice growth through tools, templates, and methodologies.
