Job Description:

The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Information Systems Specialist 5 position. This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, two days work from home, pending completion of trial service.

The salary listed is the non-PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) qualifying salary range. Prior to applying you should ensure all sections of your Workday Job History page is accurate and complete. This information is utilized during the pay equity analysis phase.

Summary of Job Duties:

In this position, you will provide the primary design, planning, operational, and customer assistance resource for the hardware and communications supporting infrastructure used by OSP. You will participate in administering OSP’s Active Directory infrastructure including the evaluation and introduction of new information security technology for all shared computer resources. This computing environment includes a complex client/server infrastructure based on multi-platform, multi-vendor distributed statewide computing. You will share in the responsibility to ensure that the current and future needs of our customers are met. In this position, you will provide expert advice for computer administration and for policy and procedure. You will work independently making decisions that contain high risk and the potential for high impact.

Minimum Qualifications/Eligibility Requirements:

(a) Four (4) years of information systems experience in:

IT systems administration and IT infrastructure support;

OR

(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;

AND

two (2) years of information systems experience in:

IT systems administration and IT infrastructure support;

OR

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure across multiple remote locations.

  • Proficiency with Windows Server administration and desktop operating systems in a mixed hardware/software environment.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware and software troubleshooting, system upgrades, and patch management.

  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues without established solutions.

  • Strong communication skills for working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
