The Strategic Data Analyst 2 embraces complex, disparate data sets, implementing traditional statistical methods, including leading technologies and languages - R, Python, SPSS, SQL, Power BI, and Tableau - implementing innovative strategic analytics to inform decision-making for leadership at the University. This position communicates information and insight which aid in the tracking and driving of the university’s Strategic Roadmap Initiatives and key performance indicators. The Strategic Data Analyst has a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

Department Specific Functions

  • We are looking for a Strategic Data Analyst 2 who will support the University of Miami with insights gained from analyzing institutional data.
  • We’re looking for someone with 3+ years of experience manipulating data sets and producing actionable predictive analytics, and has a Masters or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Economics or other social science discipline preferred.
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using Power BI, Tableau, R, etc.
  • Practical experience implementing AI into daily workflows for note taking, streamlining communication, and documentation.
  • The ideal candidate will have a drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                    

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Economics or other social science discipline required (Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred).

Experience:

3+ years of proven work experience or a combination of work experience and an advanced degree with increasing responsibility in data analytics is desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information and reports with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written skills are preferred.
  • Experience in using statistics to effectively inform business decisions.
  • Ability to be flexible, think critically, work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Proficiency with AI-based productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms, with demonstrated experience applying them to enhance data analysis, reporting, or decision-making.
  • Knowledge of R, Python or other open-source statistical tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Experience visualizing/presenting information using Power BI, Tableau, ggplot, PowerPoint, etc.
