Job description

šŸ‘‹ About Owner.com
Owner is the allinone platform that restaurants use to succeed online.

Thousands of restaurant owners use our tools to build their website, drive online orders, create their own branded app, manage their customer relationships, and set up marketing automations.

You can think of it as Shopify meets HubSpot, but specifically for restaurants.

Learn more about the problems we are solving for our customers here.

šŸŒŽ Our vision
We’re starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.

But it’s not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.
Once we nail the solution for restaurants – we’ll scale it into every other local business type.

In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

šŸš€ Our traction
In just over 3 years weve generated tens of millions in revenue, served millions of guests, and processed hundreds of millions of online orders.

More importantly, we’ve helped thousands of restaurant owners save their businesses and not only survive, but thrive.

⭐ Our team
Our team grew from under 100 to nearly 200 talented people in 2024. We’ve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.

We’ll be scaling even faster in 2025 to keep pace with our customer growth.

šŸŒ† Where we work
Owner is a remotefirst, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize inperson collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location.

šŸ”Why we’re looking for you

Owner.com’s restaurant‑commerce platform is growing rapidly, and our build pipelines must keep pace. We’re hiring a mission‑driven Senior or Staff Build Engineer to own CICD across backend, frontend, AND mobile—iOS build pipeline experience is absolutely required. You’ll ensure engineers can ship confidently to production and App Stores, quickly and reliably, with minimal overhead and maximal uptime.

Your builds power everything from Node.js microservices and web storefronts to iOS and Android apps used by restaurants, diners, and Owner.com’s back‑office teams.

šŸ’„ How you’ll make an impact
  • Own and scale build automation — design, build, and maintain our CICD infrastructure (pipelines, runners, artifact storage, signing agents, selfhosted macOS runners); ensure developers across backend, frontend, and mobile can iterate quickly without worrying about builds breaking down
  • Take charge of our mobile pipelines, with particular focus on iOS: automate versioning, provisioning profile management, keychain handling, automated signing, .ipa generation, TestFlight distribution, and App Store submission via Fastlane or native tooling
  • Embed quality and traceability into build stages — integrate linting, ondevice tests (XCTest, Espresso, Appium), code coverage metrics, and buildstate dashboards to reduce flakiness and turnaround time
  • Apply an SRE mindset to delivery — model build successfailure ratios as SLIs, define error budgets, track pipeline latency (time to green), and build alerts so broken builds are fixed within minutes
  • Automate for speed and reliability — build caching, parallel job orchestration, staging environment mirroring (via Terraform), and fast rollback workflows so every pipeline is idempotent and traceable.
  • Champion crossteam collaboration — coach developers on writing reliable MakefileGradleXcode configurations, secure signing practices, and branching models.
  • Lead incident response for build failure — serve on rotational pager for CI systems, drive blameless postmortems, and automate resilient fallback logic (e.g. fallback runners, sourced caching).
  • Strategize adoption of nextgen tools — evaluate options like GitHub’s macOS runners, Bamboo, Bitrise, or Codemagic to support future iOS scale and crossplatform parity.

  • šŸ¤ Who you’ll work with
  • Engineers across backend, frontend, and mobile in multiple time zones
  • Quality and SRE teams to drive observability and incident workflows
  • Product and restaurant‑ops teams to align build and release cadence with customer delivery timelines

  • āœ… Minimum requirements
  • 5+ years as a Build, CICD, or Release Engineer, with strong ownership of automation pipelines in production environments
  • Proven, recent handson ownership of iOS build pipelines: code signing, provisioning, Fastlane or Xcode Cloud automation, TestFlightApp Store delivery — for teams shipping multiple iOS apps per year.
  • Experience building and operating Android CICD pipelines: including Gradle, keystore management, .aab signing, Play Store upload
  • Deep familiarity with CICD orchestration tools (GitHub Actions, Buildkite, Jenkins, CircleCI, Bitrise), runners management, and certificatessecurity models
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, Ruby, or Fastlane config languages)
  • Infrastructureascode chops (TerraformCloudFormation), containerization (Docker), and runner provisioning
  • Solid grasp of distributed build topology, artifact caching, and scaling runners ondemand
  • Ability to debug build failures across layers—local machine, remote runner, CI agent, or test environment
  • Excellent written and spoke communication—able to document flows, onboarding, and provide technical training

  • 🌟 Bonus Experience (Nice to have)
  • Experience working in fastgrowing mobile teams shipping to both App Store and Google Play
  • Exposure to GitOps or mobilefocused platforms (App Center, Bitrise Enterprise, Codemagic)
  • Familiarity with cross‑platform apps (React Native, Flutter) and their idiosyncratic build flows
  • Prior experience operating selfhosted macOS build farms or dealing with Apple’s signing complexities at scale
  • Past work in regulated environments (PCI‑DSS, SOC 2) that required builtin signing and verification pipelines
  • Background in SRE platform or DevOps roles with a focus on latency SLIs, error budgets for build systems

  • šŸ† Pay & benefits
  • The estimated base salary range of $190,000 210,000k USD along with pre‑IPO equity
  • 100% remote across U.S. or Canada
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Home‑office stipend, choice of hardware, and support to set up private build infrastructure if needed
  • Twice‑annual company off‑sites to align strategy and socialize
