Job description

JOB PURPOSE

As a Parcel Operations Associate at Transportation Insight, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of parcel shipping activities for our clients. You will be responsible for coordinating shipments, managing logistics processes, and providing exceptional customer service to ensure timely and accurate delivery of parcels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the scheduling, routing, and tracking of parcel shipments, ensuring adherence to delivery deadlines and service level agreements.
  • Process orders for parcel shipments, accurately entering shipment details, generating shipping labels, and preparing necessary documentation for outbound deliveries.
  • Monitor the status of parcel shipments in real-time, proactively identifying any potential delays or issues and taking appropriate action to minimize impact on delivery schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding parcel shipments, providing updates on shipment status, resolving inquiries, and addressing any concerns or issues.
  • Liaise with parcel carriers to coordinate pickups, schedule deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies or service-related issues, maintaining positive relationships to ensure reliable and efficient transportation services.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels and stock availability for parcel shipments, collaborating with internal teams to optimize inventory replenishment and fulfillment processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline parcel operations and improve efficiency, implementing best practices and recommending changes to enhance overall performance and customer satisfaction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience in parcel shipping, logistics coordination, or customer service roles within the transportation industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric mindset and the ability to build rapport with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including parcel shipping software, Microsoft Office Suite, and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality in data entry, documentation, and shipment tracking.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Occasionally, the employee is required to lift boxes up to 20 pounds. 

SCHEDULING

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position, working Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. An employee in this position must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, during peak periods.

TRAVEL

Local travel is required. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for special training/conferences.
