Sentara is looking for a Clinical Systems Domain Architect - Remote

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Domain Architect to join our Clinical Systems team, with a dedicated focus on supporting enterprise initiatives in Revenue Cycle, Laboratory (Beaker), and Pharmacy (Willow) domains. This role will be instrumental in shaping the architecture that drives clinical and financial transformation, with a direct impact on patient care, operational efficiency, and enterprise revenue strategy.

About the Role:

The Domain Architect proactively and holistically leads and supports enterprise architecture (EA) activities that guide the development and management of domain and infrastructure solutions. These solutions support the organization's future-state business capabilities and drive targeted business outcomes.

Technologies in scope include Epic systems (e.g., Beaker, Willow, Resolute), third-party integrations, automation (AI/RPA), cloud services, data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Snowflake), and vendor-delivered solutions across the care continuum.

Focus Areas for This Role:

Revenue Cycle: Support automation and modernization of the Single Billing Office (SBO), including strategic architecture for RPA, AI integration, and Epic Resolute enhancements.

Pharmacy: Drive architectural decisions and advise on initiatives Willow Inventory/Ambulatory, 340B.

Lab: Drive architectural decisions for in-house reference lab systems, Digital Pathology, vendor transitions, and complex diagnostics integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead architectural planning for Clinical Systems in the Lab, Pharmacy, and Billing spaces.

Own and manage domain-level architectural roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy.

Partner with business, clinical, and IT stakeholders to design scalable, sustainable solutions.

Evaluate new technologies, guide ARB submissions, and provide solution design oversight.

Mentor analysts and drive improvements in IT operational and documentation processes.

Create and maintain architectural standards and reference models across domains.

Facilitate decision-making across multiple stakeholders and systems.

Education

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a degree

or

  • 10+ years of relevant experience without a degree

Certification/Licensure

  • Resolute hospital billing (Preferred)
  • Resolute professional billing (Preferred)
  • Willow – Inventory (Preferred)
  • Willow – Ambulatory (Preferred)
  • Beaker (Preferred)

Experience

  • Preferred to have experience in revenue cycle
  • Preferred to have project management experience
  • Preferred to have experience with Architecture Review Board (ARB) process

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is: $106,080- $176,820.  Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
