As a Junior Quantum System Architect, you will be working together with experienced System Architects at NXP who are currently developing cryo-CMOS electronics for trapped-ion based quantum computers. You will have the opportunity to work on the projects that will address the scalability challenges in Quantum Computing with integrated cryo-CMOS electronics. Furthermore you will:
Your Responsibilities
Model trapped-ion qubits and their quantum mechanical coupling, including imperfections, noise, crosstalk, cryogenic material properties, and model optical read-out of the qubits.
Model & design quantum, magnetic, thermal, and optical subsystems, and optimize their properties with multi-physics simulations.
Collaborate with IC design and physical design experts to implement your findings in ion trap chips, control chips, optical read-out chips, thermal management, etc.
Experimentally validate your models and designs in cryogenic systems.
What is in it for you?
The team keeps a healthy mix of 80% R&D and 20% operational activities. This requires a constant eye on innovation. You can contribute to every development phase (i.e., from problem analysis and design to implementation, testing, and bug fixing).
You will receive support from experienced mentors.
You will get training and personal development opportunities from NXP in alignment with your personal and professional needs.
You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in Quantum Computing domain.
You will work at the greatest workplace in The Netherlands (High Tech Campus Eindhoven) and be in a safe working environment that lives up to its company values.
Your Profile
PhD in Quantum Physics or related fields, with a preference for specialization in quantum related topics and IC process technology.
Experience in setting up measurement setups, designing components, build models, characterizing components at cryo-temperature.
Comfortable working with architecting tools or eager to learn how to work with them (Matlab/Simulink etc.)
Comfortable with multi-physics simulations (COMSOL Multiphysics, Matlab, etc.)
Work well in a large team of colleagues.
Experimental skills with special attention for real-world issues like crosstalk, ground loops, EMI, etc.
Eager to explore new areas and bridge gaps between disciplines.
Combine to explore new areas and bridge gaps between disciplines.
Combine scientific mindset with results-oriented engineering.
Good documentation and presentation skills.
