Job Overview:

The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will be part of a team developing new outdoor product lines for wireless POV cameras and cellular IoT devices. This engineer will work closely with internal, contract design, and manufacturing engineering teams. A top candidate will have direct work experience as a technical lead for an embedded software design, firmware modification, or wireless connectivity project. This role is part of the Reveal Product Engineering organization, with a focus on image processing functionality within embedded hardware and software systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and implementation of embedded software for wireless camera products
  • Maintain embedded software architecture, product design, and prototyping capabilities
  • Provide technical guidance for thirdparty design partners
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on electronics designs
  • Collaborate with mobile software engineers on integrations with iOS and Android apps
  • Support BluetoothBLE, CellularLTE, and WirelessWiFi regulatory testing efforts
  • Support QA team in the triage of product verification and validation issues
    • Required Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
        • Required Skills:

          • 7–12 years of embedded software engineering experience in CC++ applications
          • Proficient with IoT video streaming technologies (H.264RTSPWebRTC)
          • Experience with board bringup for embedded Linux (Buildroot or Yocto)
          • Strong objectoriented design and familiarity with design patterns
          • Proficient with Git version control
          • Proficient with DevOps, Jira, GitHub, and GitLab workflows
          • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
          • Skilled in using communication interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and MIPI CSI2
          • Handson experience with embedded debugging tools such as scopes and protocol analyzers
          • Knowledge of software security best practices and network protocols
          • Experience with embedded software unit testing
          • Ability to communicate technical and nontechnical information clearly to stakeholders
            • Desired Skills:

              • Experience with AWS CC++ SDKs (S3, MQTT, Kinesis)
              • Experience implementing IoT OvertheAir (OTA) update methodologies
              • Familiarity with scripting tools (Bash, Python, LuaJIT, GNU Make)
              • Experience working with thirdparty design partners on firmware development
              • Knowledge of image compression and transmission algorithms
              • Familiarity with cellular and wireless technologies (LTE, WiFi, BLE, NFC)
              • Understanding of LTE cellular networks, cellular operators, and IoT applications
