Job description

This is a remote position.

Schedule: PartTime (30 hoursweek, with the potential to transition into a fulltime role)


Job Description:

We are seeking a detailoriented and highly experienced Xero Bookkeeper to support our finance and operations team. This role is ideal for someone who knows Xero inside and out and has a strong understanding of Australian tax regulations, particularly GST.

You will be responsible for handling daytoday bookkeeping, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring our accounting processes are efficient and compliant. The role also involves helping us optimize our use of the Xero ecosystem, including automation and jobproject tracking.


Key Responsibilities:

Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations

Reconcile monthly debtors and creditors

Generate accurate cashflow reports (weekly) and management reports (monthly)

Support BAS preparation and endofyear readiness

Implement and maintain jobproject tracking within Xero

Set up automated invoice reminders and system rules

Assist in optimizing the use of Xero features (e.g., quotes, invoicing, project management)

Ensure compliance with the Australian GST system and other relevant regulations

Work closely with the team to improve processes and reporting accuracy



Requirements

Xero Certified with demonstrated advanced knowledge of the platform

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an Australian business environment

Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, especially GST

Proven experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and bank reconciliations

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Ability to work independently and proactively

Proficiency in using the full Xero ecosystem, including integrations and reporting tools

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with BAS lodgements

Previous exposure to automating financial workflows within Xero

Background in working with SMEs or startups
