Job description

Description

Omni Institute seeks candidates for a Quantitative Analyst role. We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds to apply for this position and more information about this is in our Equity and Inclusion statement at the end of this posting.

The Quantitative Analyst will bring strong technical expertise in R and a commitment to using data to drive positive social change. This role involves executing and overseeing high-quality data management and analysis practices, contributing to both standard and complex analytic efforts across a diverse project portfolio. The ideal candidate will also apply foundational knowledge of social science research methods to support the development of protocols and tools, carry out defined research tasks, contribute meaningfully to client deliverables, and communicate directly with key project partners.

Requirements

Key Qualifications

  • A passion for using data to advance equity and drive meaningful social change.
  • Experience collaborating within project teams to support interdependent data workstreams, including data transfers, management, and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data methods and results clearly—both in writing and in conversations with clients and team members.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a solution-oriented mindset—someone who digs into analytic challenges, surfaces practical options, and continuously looks for ways to improve tools, methods, and processes.
  • A commitment to rigor, precision, and clarity in data work, paired with the ability to grow through feedback, adapt to project needs, and maintain high standards for accuracy and documentation.
  • Experience executing complex data management and analysis tasks such as merging and cleaning high-volume or nested datasets and preparing multi-site or pre/post data for analysis.
  • Experience conducting descriptive (e.g., mean, range, proportions, standard deviations, etc.) and inferential analyses (e.g., t-tests, chi-square, Wilcoxon).
  • Proficiency in R for data management, analysis, visualization, and reporting; ability to independently write, review, and troubleshoot R code. Experience with R Markdown is required. Experience with R-based tools/packages that support web-based reporting as well as in adjacent tools like css and html is highly desired.
  • Academic or applied training in quantitative methods, in a relevant social science field, with hands-on experience applying those methods to real-world research or evaluation projects.
  • Demonstrated interest in one or more of Omni’s core areas of work, such as public health, behavioral health, community development, family support, workforce development, juvenile or criminal justice, or education.

What this role will look like

Over the course of work at Omni you will contribute to a range of research and evaluation projects across our practice areas of Behavioral Health, Community Health, Economic Security, Children & Families, and Justice. Your work will primarily focus on using R for quantitative data management and analysis. Some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Implementing data management protocols—including data cleaning, transformation, and documentation—to ensure analytic readiness across varied data types (e.g., survey, administrative, or programmatic data).
  • Conducting descriptive and inferential analyses using R, and contributing to interpretation and visualization of findings for both internal teams and external audiences.
  • Reviewing, refining, and troubleshooting R code (yours and others') for accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and reproducibility.
  • Supporting development of data collection instruments and protocols by offering input on structure, logic, and analytic alignment.
  • Reviewing and summarizing findings from secondary data sources to inform project context and interpretation.
  • Collaborating with team members and clients to address data quality issues, interpret results, and translate analytic insights into actionable, equity-centered recommendations.
  • Drafting clear, compelling content for client deliverables that communicates both standard and complex analytic methods and findings.
  • Identifying recurring challenges or inefficiencies in data workflows and contributing ideas and solutions to improve our collective practices through Omni’s internal knowledge-sharing forums.

Diversity Statement

We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply, particularly people of color, those who identify as LGBTQ+, first generation immigrants, those who were first in their families to attend college, and people who are from marginalized income backgrounds. https://www.omni.org/edi
