Ferguson is seeking an Assistant General Counsel - Product Liability Litigation. This role will support its product liability claims and litigation team. Qualified applications will have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience handling product liability litigation in the following areas: defective manufacturing, defective design, inadequate warning, and construction defects in a law firm, public agency, or a private corporation.

This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities:
Advise partners in management and the legal department on any new, ongoing, or preventative product liability issues that may arise;
Lead the strategy for product liability and construction defect matters in litigation, including handling the relationship with external defense counsel;
Provide reporting on the status of product liability, construction defect, and related tort litigation matters, including developing and reporting on benchmarks and financial metrics;
Review pleadings, legal documents, and correspondence to determine litigation deadlines and direct local counsel to maintain case strategy;
Attend and report upon events during litigation, including material depositions, mediation, settlement conferences, and trials;
Conduct internal investigations and prepare responses to third parties;
Respond to and send tenders of defense and indemnification as appropriate;
Increase the efficiency of the delivery of legal services through preventative action, including proactive involvement, early identification, and effective resolution of potential issues and disputes;
Communicate effectively, and maintain professional, supportive, and positive relationships with company associates, witnesses, attorneys, and external partners; and
Perform supervisory responsibilities for associates as assigned.
Always represent the company in a professional manner ensuring quality customer service;
Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company;
Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company;
Maintain strict confidentiality; and
Work hours outside of regularly scheduled hours as needed.
Qualifications:
Law degree from a law school fully accredited by the American Bar Association and member of a state bar in good standing;
A minimum of seven (7) year’s total credited experience. Responsible, significant, relevant and successful experience with a law firm, public agency, or private corporation as legal counsel leading or overseeing cases involving product liability matters such as defective manufacturing, defective design, inadequate warning, and construction defect;
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Ability to interact successfully with all levels of management;
Ability to apply regulations and policies to dynamic situations;
Ability to travel as needed for litigation and to Headquarters in Newport News when necessary;
Poise and ability to communicate effectively to groups (e.g., conduct training programs);
Ability to argue the Company’s position persuasively to third parties, including attorneys, investigative agencies and auditors;
Ability to apply logic in confrontational situations;
Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously;
Ability to prioritize;
Excellent organizational and time management skills required;
Ability to work well independently; and
PC literacy in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
