Your Profile

TalentMapper is seeking an experienced and visionary lead for our engineering function. As our technical leader, you will be a strategic partner to the Director of Product & Technology and CEO, responsible for defining the technical vision, managing our development team, and being a hands-on contributor to our platform. This role requires a balance of leadership, deep technical expertise, and a passion for building both great products and a great engineering culture.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead and Manage Engineering: Take full ownership of our development team, ensuring they are effective, accountable, and aligned with our product roadmap.

  • Be a Hands-On Leader: While strategic, you will be expected to contribute to the codebase, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance to the team.

  • Architect for the Future: Design and oversee a scalable, secure, and reliable system architecture, making key decisions on technology and infrastructure.

  • Build a Strong Partnership: Forge a strong, collaborative relationship with our Chief Product Officer, translating product vision into a deliverable technical strategy.

  • Drive Technical Excellence: Be proactive in identifying and addressing tech debt, championing best practices, and ensuring the long-term health of our platform.

  • Document and Communicate: Create and maintain high-level architectural documentation and provide regular updates on technical progress and challenges to the executive team.

  • Build the Future Team: Be responsible for defining our future in-house engineering culture and leading the recruitment of new technical team members as we grow.

Experience Required

  • Previous industry experience in a leadership role (e.g., Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or previous Head of Technology) with a background in hands-on development.

  • Proven experience leading technical projects and managing developers (in-house or outsourced).

  • Deep understanding of cloud environments (GCP preferred, but expertise in any major cloud provider is welcome) and SaaS platforms.

  • Well-versed in Python, Django and Databases that includes PostgreSQL, Mongo, Neo4j.

  • Experience designing and building scalable systems, ideally with microservice architectures.

  • Proven ability to create clear technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and strategic roadmaps.

  • Working knowledge of modern security principles and best practices.

  • Experience with AI/ML workloads and Terraform is highly beneficial.

  • Pragmatism: An understanding of the trade-offs required in a startup environment, balancing speed with quality.

  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
