Job description

This is a remote position.

Our client, an AIfocused startup based in Toronto, Canada, are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to act as the technical lead for a key product initiative. In this role, you will architect, build, and own endtoend systems using FastAPI, Next.js, and Google Cloud Platform. Internally, this position is titled Lead Project Engineer (LPE) and serves as the engineering point of contact and technical owner for a product vertical.

You will collaborate closely with a Product Manager, mentor other engineers, and ensure timely and highquality delivery. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on ownership, clear decisionmaking, and guiding others within a fastpaced startup environment.

What Youll Do

Lead technical planning, system architecture (HLDLLD), and delivery of assigned projects

Own the endtoend software lifecycle: design, development, deployment, and monitoring

Collaborate with Product Managers on planning, estimation, and delivery

Mentor and review work from Project Engineers within your project scope

Conduct code reviews and maintain high engineering quality standards

Manage GCPbased infrastructure, observability, and CICD workflows

Identify and resolve technical challenges, performance bottlenecks, and design risks

Requirements

What You Bring

46+ years of experience in full stack development with ReactNext.js and Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django)

Proven experience in leading the design and delivery of scalable software systems

Strong understanding of software architecture and cloudnative development

Proficiency with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic

Handson experience with GCP services such as Cloud Run, PubSub, Cloud SQL, IAM

Familiarity with CICD pipelines, Docker, and infrastructureascode (e.g., Terraform)

Excellent communication, technical judgment, and stakeholder collaboration skills

Prior experience in a startup or smallteam environment is preferred
