Job description

This is a remote position.

Role: AvePoint Backup Specialist

Engagement Type: Freelance

Workload: Parttime (flexible, approx. 25%)

Duration: August 2025 – 31122027 (with extension option)

Location: Remote, with occasional travel to client site in Hamburg preferred

Project Overview
We are supporting a longterm digital transformation initiative for a public sector client and are seeking several technical specialists, including a potential project lead. The programme centres on the phased rollout and migration to Microsoft 365 (Office Apps, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Copilot), running through to the end of 2027.
Key workstreams include:

Implementation of AvePoint as the backup solution

Replacement of the legacy Office 2016 environment with Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise

Deployment of a hybrid identity infrastructure using Entra ID

Rollout of Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online

Migration of the existing Exchange environment to a hybrid model including mailbox migration

Pilot project for Microsoft 365 Copilot and development of an AI adoption strategy

Decommissioning of hybrid Exchange and AD infrastructure, transition to SharePoint, and expansion of compliance and security capabilities

Proven experience with AvePoint backup solutions

Strong background in Microsoft 365 migrations and hybrid environments

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 compliance and security tools

Residency in the EU

Excellent command of English (German is a plus but not required)

Certification (required)

Relevant AvePoint certification (e.g. AvePoint Certified Technician or equivalent)
