Hourly Rate: $29.54/hour

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The Medical Coder will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services in accordance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines. This role ensures proper coding to support billing processes, regulatory compliance, and quality reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform remote medical coding via VPN, using the RPMS/EHR system.
  • Complete coding for ambulatory visits, including diagnosis (ICD-10), CPT, HCPCS, PCS codes.
  • Review provider documentation for accuracy; validate and correct codes.
  • Maintain compliance with CMS, hospital policy, medical necessity, and other regulations.
  • Report inconsistencies and suggest documentation improvements.
  • Enter visit data including lab, pharmacy, radiology, and specialty clinic details.
  • Must code between 80-120 visits per day.
  • Complete entries within 4 days of patient visit.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Certification: AHIMA (CCA/CCS) or AAPC (CPC) Certification
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and ADA codes.
    • Previous experience in coding for Medicare/Medicaid and private insurance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, ADA coding
    • VPN-secured remote access
  • Soft Skills: Extreme attention to detail
  • Compliance Requirements:
    • Annual IHS background clearance and fingerprinting.
    • Subject to Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act standards.
