ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our client is a locally owned and operated firm based in Maryborough, QLD, proudly serving individuals and businesses since 2014. We specialise in taxation, business advisory and self-managed super funds (SMSFs), with a strong focus on client relationships and practical, reliable accounting solutions. As a Gold Champion Partner with Xero, we are committed to leveraging the latest cloud-based tools to streamline financial management for our clients.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing 75+ Business Activity Statements (BAS) each quarter, assisting with Individual Tax Returns (ITRs) and preparing financial statements up to the trial balance stage. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a client-focused environment and enjoys a balance of compliance and advisory work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and lodge over 75 quarterly BAS for a variety of clients.

  • Complete financials to at least trial balance stage.

  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of general ledgers.

  • Support the preparation of tax planning reports and year-end compliance.

  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and provide guidance where needed.

  • Maintain accurate records and meet all relevant deadlines.

  • Use Xero and other accounting software to manage client files.



Requirements
  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a public practice or business services environment.

  • Solid understanding of Australian tax legislation and BAS/ITR compliance.

  • Strong working knowledge of Xero (Xero certification a plus).

  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a small, supportive team.
