Job Description

In this role, you’ll generate and pitch story ideas tailored for digital platforms, producing engaging written and video reports using creative production techniques like graphics and new media. You’ll shoot, write, edit, and deliver highquality video content optimised for various channels—including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and our brand websites. Staying on top of the latest trends in digital storytelling, you’ll adapt content for each platform’s unique audience and contribute to strategies that drive video monetisation.

Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with brand teams and distribution colleagues to ensure content performs at its best everywhere it appears. You’ll also engage with audiences across social media to boost reach and interaction, using analytics tools to refine strategy and improve results. Embracing AI tools in line with company policy, you’ll optimise content creation for accuracy and efficiency.

You’ll create compelling affiliate content that drives revenue and traffic to partner sites, always aligning with brand guidelines. Additionally, you’ll tailor stories for offplatform channels when appropriate while upholding editorial standards. For every story, you’ll consider audio and video elements—capturing or curating footage as needed—and actively contribute to building a diverse and inclusive organisation that reflects our communities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field—or an NCTJ qualification (or be willing to work towards one). You should be comfortable using video editing tools like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro and familiar with major social media platforms. Proven experience as a journalist or reporter focused on digital content is required, as is a demonstrated ability to deliver compelling stories in both text and video formats. Experience in varied roles with a broad remit is preferred, along with a strong command of English language and grammar.

You’ll need to be skilled at creating engaging written and video content tailored for different platforms, with strong digital writing abilities and the knack for injecting personality and the right tone into your work. A good understanding of SEO for both video and written pieces is essential, as is the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality. Excellent communication, teamwork, time management, and professionalism are a must, along with the flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
