Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with experience supporting cloud-hosted data platforms in a public sector or healthcare environment. This role will contribute to a large-scale system that supports program monitoring and reporting across Medicaid and CHIP-related services.

As part of a cross-functional technical team, you will help manage and enhance cloud-based databases and applications that enable oversight of provider networks, quality performance, and service delivery metrics. This is a high-impact role supporting operational integrity, data security, and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services to support data intake, transformation, and storage within a cloud-hosted environment
• Work with technical leads to design, deploy, and optimize cloud-based applications, services, and databases
• Ensure secure handling of sensitive healthcare data (including PHI/PII) in compliance with industry standards
• Assist in integrating performance dashboards and APIs used for internal and external program reporting
• Participate in data validation, migration, and quality assurance processes
• Troubleshoot issues related to cloud infrastructure and backend service functionality

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development roles, preferably with a focus on healthcare, government, or large-scale public systems
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, or .NET)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including storage, compute, and database services
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with RESTful API development and integration
• Understanding of data security, HIPAA compliance, and cloud access controls
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control

Preferred:

• Familiarity with healthcare quality data (e.g., HEDIS, CAHPS, Value-Based Purchasing)
• Experience supporting government health programs (Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare)
• Exposure to data visualization tools and dashboards
