Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support the financial operations of a small to midsize property portfolio. This role is ideal for someone with strong general accounting knowledge, preferably in the real estate sector, who is comfortable managing property-level financial reporting, CAM reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.

The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, flexible, and quick to learn new systems — experience with Yardi or similar accounting/ERP systems is strongly preferred, but not strictly required. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports for a portfolio of properties.

• Review Balance Sheets and Income Statements to ensure accurate account balances and reasonable revenue/expense values. • Maintain and verify accuracy of general ledger and journal entries.

• Perform CAM reconciliations and reforecasts (annually and bi-annually).

• Prepare reports related to budgets, insurance, taxes, fixed assets, prepaids, commissions, and amortization/depreciation.

• Review invoices for accuracy and proper coding.

• Ensure timely completion of accounting tasks in line with the department calendar.

• Maintain well-documented workpapers and schedules to support reporting.

• Identify and improve processes related to core accounting duties.

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 1–4 years of experience in the real estate industry and Accounting preferred.

• Familiarity with lease structures, CAM, tax billings, and general ledger management.

• Prior experience with Yardi is a plus — equivalent ERP/accounting systems are also acceptable.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
