Job description

This is a remote position.

Phoenix Support Services, located in the Philippines, is the in-house support center of Advanced Digital Media Services—a startup full-service digital marketing company in the U.S.

We are seeking a qualified, detail-oriented proofreader, editor to join our team. You must be proficient in basic and advanced grammar rules and understand how they are used within our style guides. Our ideal candidate is meticulous in reviewing copy, noting errors such as punctuation, spelling, and word usage, and knows how to check statements for accuracy or potential plagiarism. You must communicate effectively with the writers and other staff to ensure documents meet all company guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review documents for grammar, spelling, and style
  • Fact-check dates and other statements for accuracy
  • Confirm all submitted writing is original
  • Ensure text meets the tone and character count outlined by company policies
  • Make corrections and suggest edits to the document
  • Meet proofreading deadlines
  • Understand the message that the client is seeking to express in order to proofread more accurately
  • Ideate original concepts and accomplish copy based on recognized voice and tone for a variety of digital platforms
  • Interact and collaborate with the Content team, web development team, project manager, and clients (if needed) to ensure content quality
  • Keep abreast of and record changes to company and client style and branding guidelines, legal requirements, and specifications and format
  • Assist in the production process to spot errors or inconsistencies in the formatting of e-mails, web pages, and PDFs
  • Follow up with others to ensure corrections are completed
  • Other tasks assigned by the Senior Content Manager aligned with the proofreader tasks


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience: English, Journalism, Marketing Communications degrees preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year Content Writing and/or SEO Writing experience
  • Background in/experience writing articles related to Mechanical Engineering or Construction Engineering is preferred but not a must
  • Excellent grammar and communication skills
  • Fact-checking and research expertise
  • Familiarity with AP and other style guides
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Office

System Requirements

  • Must have a laptop/personal computer
  • Minimum of 20 MBPS internet connection
  • A noise-canceling headset
  • A conducive environment for a remote work setup
