The Category Manager directly supports the Director Category Development to create strategies and solutions that focus on both consumers and customers. This role involves analyzing data, combining insights from different sources, and providing clear, actionable recommendations. Strong communication and influencing skills are key to driving results with small-format customers nationwide. The ideal candidate should have good business judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience in areas like assortment planning, negotiation, pricing strategies, online product presentation, sales, and building strong relationships.
CATEGORY DEVELOPMENT
Build strong relationships with retailers to position Red Bull as a trusted category partner.
Stay informed on product trends, competitive landscape, and category performance (online and offline).
Develop and execute plans for assortment, merchandising, new product launches, and promotions.
Use data to identify risks, opportunities, and gaps, turning insights into sales strategies.
Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, etc.) to drive category performance and streamline reporting.
Lead retailer discussions to identify category growth opportunities and present Red Bull’s category leadership.
CATEGORY MANAGEMENT
Develop deep expertise in the energy drink category and broader beverage market.
Deliver category reviews and strategic plans using syndicated and retailer-specific data (e.g., Nielsen, POS, loyalty data).
Provide insights on sales, pricing, and opportunity gaps to drive incremental growth.
Create planograms and optimize in-store execution.
ANALYSIS
Analyze new product launches, merchandising effectiveness, and promotional performance.
Maintain scorecards, trackers, and provide ad-hoc reports for internal and retailer needs.
Stay updated on best practices and tools in category management to continuously improve performance.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field preferred.
3–5 years of experience in consumer goods, retail, or data analytics, with a focus on category management, sales, or shopper insights.
Proficient in using syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, Circana, Numerator, 84.51, 1010) and customer/POS data to drive growth.
Skilled at simplifying complex data into actionable insights.
Proven ability to build strong partnerships with retail customers and internal teams.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
Knowledge of retail merchandising and in-store execution.
Preferred: CPCM certification, Master’s degree, experience in sales or analytical support, beverage/DSD experience, and familiarity with tools like Tableau, Power BI, SQL, or Alteryx.
The base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $138,000 + cash incentive. Actual salary offer may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
