💼 About our Client

Our client is a Copenhagen-based sustainability-focused travel management startup working with medium-to-large corporations to reduce the climate impact of business travel. Their platform connects major travel services and overlays them with carbon emissions data, automated CO2 offsetting, and sustainability reporting.

👨‍💻 The Role

We’re hiring a hands-on Development Lead. Someone who can guide a small, capable team while staying close to the code. You might already be leading teams, or you're a senior-level developer ready to take that next step. You’ll be the go-to person between the dev team and the CTO - making sure the tech stays solid, the team is supported, and our client keeps shipping great features without losing sight of their values.

You should have strong engineering instincts, a solid grasp of systems thinking, and a practical approach to problem-solving. You’ll code, review, guide, and help them grow both their product and their engineering culture.

You’ll be leading a team of three backend developers with varying skill levels. The current team is working remote from Bosnia and Serbia. You’ll play a key role in growing the team, with one or two new hires expected in the near future.

🔧 Responsibilities

Take technical and operational ownership of the backend
Lead system design for new features and integrations
Review, refactor, and stabilize critical components
Support and mentor other backend engineers
Identify bottlenecks, tech debt, and performance issues
Maintain high standards for code, quality, and security

🛠️ Tech Stack

Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Route53), Docker, Linux
Backend: PHP, Laravel, MariaDB, Redis
Frontend: React, TypeScript
Other: GitHub, Laravel Forge, and various 3rd-party APIs

👤 Who You Are

At least 6+ years of experience in software development
Hands-on skills with SQL, database design, backend architecture, and external integrations
Comfortable owning quality in a live production environment
The personality to mentor others and drive technical alignment
Strong communicator with advanced English speaking skills, who values team well-being, open collaboration, and autonomy.
