Job description

Are you analytical, focused, and motivated? Then the role of Layout Engineer is perfect for you! As a Layout Engineer, you design technical spaces on board ships.

Your Responsibilities

  • Designing the layout of the engine room or other technical spaces.
  • Performing required calculations to create a layout at an early stage.
  • Acting as a liaison in communication with all disciplines, e.g., theoretical shipbuilding, ship constructions, system engineering, etc.
  • Tracking package versions during the detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Processing individual installation instructions from component suppliers.
  • Specifying required components based on construction specifications and standard regulations.
  • You will also draft technical specifications, receive and evaluate quotes, and collaborate with the Procurement Department and Lead Engineers Machinery & Piping to make decisions. Additionally, the Machinery and Piping Layout Engineer is responsible for inspections by classification societies and/or clients.

Your Profile

To be eligible for this position, you should have the following:

  • A completed degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technician Engineering (or another relevant technical study).
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication abilities in both spoken and written English and Dutch.
  • Able to work in Kinderdijk in the Netherlands.
  • Experience with (Shipbuilding) engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with regulations from classification societies and international authorities.
  • Awareness of technical developments in the field.
  • The ability to initiate research and technical advancements.
