What you will do:
This position will be responsible for performing full-service accounting for eXp Puerto Rico, with financial oversight and support for eXp Dominican Republic. Responsibilities include managing general ledger processes, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with Puerto Rican tax regulations and supporting financial activities in the Dominican Republic.

This position will ensure timely and accurate recording of general ledger transactions and month-close procedures while working closely with the GL Team, Finance, and Accounting Departments to improve financial workflows.

This role requires a high degree of problem-solving and project management skills and the ability to lead process improvement initiatives in a rapidly growing business environment.
The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and compliance processes across the organization. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to meet tight deadlines. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role requires frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist with daily financial operations, including general ledger activity, invoicing, payments, receipt, and cash applications.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Puerto Rican and U.S. GAAP.
  • Perform reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and general ledger account reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and internal reports.
  • Collaborate with the finance and transaction teams to ensure correct processing of financial activities related to property transactions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Puerto Rican tax regulations, including:
    • Income Tax (Hacienda PR)
    • Sales and Use Tax (IVU)
    • Municipal Taxes (Patente Municipal)
    • Withholding Taxes
    • Informative Declarations (Form 480)
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Dominican Republic tax regulations (DGII), where applicable.
  • Support external and internal audit processes by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Contribute to process improvements and assist with financial automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain internal controls and help ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
How you will grab our attention:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial operations, accounting, or financial analysis.
  • Solid experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and monthly closings.
  • Exposure to revenue accounting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Puerto Rican tax reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Dominican Republic financial reporting (DGII) is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion or similar) preferred.
  • Experience in the real estate industry is a plus.
