Database Design, Migration, Maintenance and Administration Consultant

This is a remote position.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide on-demand database design, migration, maintenance, administration, and support for Microsoft SQL, Amazon RDS, Postgres SQL, MySQL (on-prem and AWS platform).
  

• Monitor application-related jobs and data replication activities.
  

• Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
  

• Provide development teams with consultation and assistance with database activities.
  

• Backup and restore databases.
  

• Manage and monitor user access, data replication, and system outages.'
  

• Implement and maintain database security (users/roles, privileges).
  

• Create database objects (tables, indexes).
  

• Generate reports by querying databases as required.
  

• Install, configure, upgrade software and related products.
  

• Maintain archived data and modify structures as per developer input.
  

• Perform capacity planning.
  

• Write procedures, functions, and triggers.
  

• Allocate system storage and plan future storage needs.
  

• Sustain systems and document any changes in CLBC’s Sustainment Book.
  

Mandatory Qualifications (As per PL document)

• Degree in Computer Science or related field; OR diploma with at least 15 years of IT experience, including 5+ years in database design, migration, maintenance, and support on AWS.
  

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect and other relevant certifications.
  

• Strong ITIL knowledge.
  

Desirable Qualifications (As per PL document)

• Excellent working knowledge of infrastructure management.
  

• Knowledge of specialized computer software programs.
  

• Expertise in infrastructure security.
  

• Strong prioritization, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  

• Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  

Duration:

• Initial contract term: 1 year (earliest start: August 13, 2025)
  

• Up to four (4) optional one-year extensions at the discretion of the client
  

• On-call, part-time, no guaranteed minimum hours
