Position Summary

We’re looking for a visionary and data-driven leader to shape the future of digital shopping at BenefitHub
As our Vice President of E-Commerce & Merchandising, you’ll redefine how millions of members discover, engage with, and save on exclusive deals. You will own our e-commerce growth engine—merging merchandising innovation with strategic commerce execution to deliver exceptional customer experiences and business results.

This individual serves as the primary thought partner to merchants, marketing and product development to provide best-in-class digital deals and shopping experiences for our members.
Reporting directly to the EVP, eCommerce Partnerships, this role holds P&L responsibility and plays a pivotal part in shaping the company's strategic direction.
 

The VP of E-Commerce will be responsible for sustaining and accelerating BenefitHub’s growth trajectory. This leader should be an expert in all aspects of digital commerce and is expected to be deeply engaged in leading a highly collaborative team in our effort to optimize our members path to discovery and purchase– ultimately increasing consumer confidence to purchase/convert, pivoting to capitalize on business opportunities by improving the digital commerce experience, and designing thoughtful solutions that inject inspiring moments in the member’s
shopping journey.
 

This leader will manage a high-performing merchandising and ecommerce team and will collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, tech, ad sales, legal, finance, and other key stakeholders to deliver on business goals. Success in this role requires a balance of visionary thinking and operational excellence, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making, newsletter optimization, merchant negotiations, and category performance management.

The right candidate for this role will be inspired by BenefitHub’s 25+ years of saving our member’s over $6,000 per year on their digital shopping journeys and excited by the opportunity to apply their innovative digital and merchandising strategies in a truly consumer-centric, channel agnostic and high growth orientation. 

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive e-commerce sales and merchandising strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and business objectives including revenue and profitability targets and setting performance goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for your team.  
  • Oversee all aspects of ecommerce sales and marketplace operations, including the management of the digital shelf, optimizing newsletter and onsite promotions, and ensuring seamless collaboration across the company.  
  • Architect an exemplary and elevated shopping experience for BenefitHub members and develop the digital merchandising and ecommerce playbook to create a seamless and relevant shopping experience for our membersThis will include leveraging
    engagement analytics, sales results and customer feedback to continuously optimize
    deal placement on our site and in our newsletters, site navigation, on-site search
    and browse, and Safari/Chrome extensions.  

  • Create and implement strategies that infuse more inspiration, editorial content and cross-category discovery across BenefitHub.com leveraging
    site assets such as widgets, banners, and push/browser promotions.  

  • Oversee our partner relationships
    and lead the development of a robust pipeline of deals with key retailers, challenger (DTC) brands and affiliate networks including negotiating terms, BenefitHub-specific discounts, promotional agreements, and managing marketing calendars to drive conversions and profitability
    Procure diverse selection of desirable deals covering seasonal, local, daily-deals, coupons, and specialty products/services.

  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the current assortment of deals, pricing, merchant and affiliate partnerships and ensure optimized assortment, product visibility and fulfillment strategies.

  • Research and monitor industry trends and consumer behavior to anticipate demand and changes in buying patterns including reviewing customer feedback to predict sales trends and seasonal stock demand and conducting regular competitor reviews.  
  • Lead collaboration between product, marketing, finance, and ad sales to ensure consistent execution of ecommerce initiatives. Coordinate with storefront team to address fulfillment, logistics and inventory challenges. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within your team.
  • Work closely with product and technology team to manage timelines of product releases and develop rollout plans and strategies to drive user engagement and increase purchasing conversions on site and across the web via newsletter, chrome/apple extensions, mobile apps, and other tools.
  • Proactively monitor
    and analyze newsletter health and site performance through analytics and key metrics including overseeing site metrics and dashboards and
    providing
    actionable insights to internal stakeholders to influence the overall direction for the newsletters and the site. Inclusive with this monitoring, leverage and analyze sales data, customer feedback and market trends to
    create
    actionable forecasting reports and plans
    to drive growth, expand deal offerings, and ensure optimization.  

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a high performing team and foster a culture of collaboration and change management. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to team members, ensuring alignment with BenefitHub’s business objectives. Align team structure and resources to support current and future e-commerce business needs.
  • Continually identify opportunities and best practices that can scale and drive continuous improvement of the site’s strategic direction and detailed execution. Approach opportunities with an agile test and learn mindset. Embed operational excellence to increase capabilities and enhance skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with BenefitHub’s e-commerce operations – proactively addressing potential challenges to maintain business continuity and member/customer satisfaction.


Who You Are

  • 10-15 years of professional experience in online merchandising and ecommerce.
    Significant experience in retail and e-commerce is absolutely required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading an ecommerce business to deliver digital growth at scale, including
    experience leading the buying and merchandising strategies for a high-volume, multi-brand retail or marketplace business, driving category growth, supplier partnerships, and commercial performance.

  • Strategic, innovative and creative, thinker able to apply structure and analytical rigor to complex problems, drawing actionable insights and translating them into a vision, strategy, and action plan. High curiosity for what’s new and next – with an eye on how it applies to our business.
  • Prior experience leading, developing and coaching a team of various levels. Ability to lead cross-functionally through influence and leveraging
    relationships across functions and hierarchy levels to unlock smarter decision-making across our organization. 

  • Strong analytical approach with appreciation for creativity in solving problems, with a track record of translating complex data into actions and improvements and using data and insights to make informed and impactful decisions.
  • Self-motivated and action-oriented leader with the ability to juggle multiple projects and who can identify primary and secondary objectives, prioritize tasks, and communicate timeline to team members.  
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and being an intrapreneur.  

Functional Proficiency: 

  • Strong analytical and technical skills with retail merchandising. 
  • Solid understanding of online retail trends, consumer psychology, and digital merchandising tactics.
  • Power user of website analytics, eCommerce platforms and on-site search tools
  • Understanding of affiliate ecommerce
    a plus.

  • Experience in travel or attraction industries a plus.
