We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to help Pharmavise expand its presence in the life sciences consulting industry. The BDM will play a critical role in driving new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and supporting the company's growth objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in account acquisition, proposal writing, and business development within the life sciences sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow a small business and directly contribute to Pharmavise’s expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Growth: Lead efforts to acquire new clients and expand relationships with existing accounts, specifically in the pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, and healthcare sectors. Develop and implement strategies to drive business expansion, explore new market opportunities, and increase revenue streams. Constantly evaluate and refine growth strategies to ensure alignment with market trends and client needs.
Account Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders, ensuring high client satisfaction and long-term engagement.
Proposal Writing: Manage and prepare high-quality proposals for new business opportunities, collaborating with technical teams to align service offerings with client needs.
Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge. Conduct competitive intelligence research to uncover trends and life sciences opportunities relevant to Pharmavise’s services.
Client Presentations & Discovery: Lead client discovery meetings, provide tailored presentations, and showcase Pharmavise’s capabilities and value propositions. Assist in preparing demos, marketing collateral, and capability presentations that highlight the company's strengths.
Negotiations & Closing: Successfully negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing models with prospective clients, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes.
Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO and the internal team to ensure the delivery of exceptional services and solutions, ensuring seamless project execution from client onboarding to service delivery.
Subcontractor Value Proposition: Communicate Pharmavise’s value as a subcontractor to prime contractors and larger firms, helping to position the company as a strategic and compliant small business partner.
Social Media Strategy: Leverage LinkedIn and other social media platforms strategically to support lead generation, visibility, and thought leadership.
Thought Leadership Contributions: Contribute to company newsletters, blogs, webinars, and podcasts that reflect market expertise and strengthen Pharmavise’s brand.
CRM Management: Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to track leads, manage client data, and support account-based marketing efforts.
Team Management: Manage and mentor the Business Development team, providing guidance and support to ensure the team meets its goals and performs at a high level. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and development.
Key Requirements:
Experience: 5-8 years of business development, sales, or account management experience in the life sciences industry (pharma, medical device, biotech, or healthcare), with at least 2 years of experience in business development management. Strong experience in proposal writing and managing client relationships is highly preferred.
Industry Expertise: In-depth understanding of the life sciences industry, with experience working with pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, or healthcare clients.
Client-Facing Skills: Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with senior decision-makers and stakeholders. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter who is motivated by results and growth. Experience growing small businesses or startups is a plus.
Social Media & CRM: Knowledge of strategic approaches to LinkedIn and other social media platforms for business development. Experience managing contacts and sales pipelines in CRM tools.
Subcontracting Acumen: Familiarity with positioning small businesses as value-added subcontractors in government or commercial engagements.
Content Marketing Experience: Ability to contribute to content such as blogs, newsletters, webinars, or podcasts for thought leadership and visibility.
Travel: Ability to make site visits across the US to meet with clients, attend conferences, and build relationships.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
Ideal Candidate Traits:
Proven track record of account acquisition and business development in the life sciences sector.
Experience with proposal writing, RFP responses, and managing the full sales cycle.
Strong network in the life sciences industry with existing relationships that can be leveraged for business development.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams to ensure client needs are met.
Knowledge of GxP standards and life sciences consulting practices is a plus.
