Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Remote

Reporting to: President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Overview of Role:

National Pen is seeking a strategic and results driven CFO, preferably with experience in a global ecommerce B2C or B2 small B company. The CFO reports directly to the President & CEO assisting on all strategic matters including long-range strategy and planning, budget management, cost benefit analysis and forecasting, amongst others. The CFO will lead a diverse, multi-cultural global finance and accounting team across 6 countries. We offer an excellent compensation plan to include a base salary, bonus structure and a long-term incentive plan for the successful candidate!

Primary Responsibilities

  • As a business partner to the President & CEO, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and company’s long-term strategy
  • Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts
  • Oversee the business’s long-term financial model in alignment with company’s strategic plan
  • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial reporting for all aspects of the business.
  • Complete analysis of financial results; develop recommendations to address areas of concern (strategic and tactical)
  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives, for example, M&A opportunities and manufacturing expansion
  • Assist in development of financial planning and analysis exercises/reports
  • Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the executive management team
  • Oversee preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation
  • Leveraging AI and industry best practices, enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and controls
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns with parent company and external accounting firm as needed
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions globally
  • Remain up to date on audit best practices and state, federal & international law regarding our operations, in particular tariffs in the US.
  • Act as primary contact with our parent company on a variety of financial and strategic topics including annual budget targets, change in financial policies, and quarterly business reviews.


Required skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience at finance executive level
  • CFO experience with a $200M+ company
  • Extensive experience leading a diverse multi-cultural, multi-location function
  • Experience working in an e-commerce direct marketing company is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and cost accounting
  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner

This is a US Remote position. The California base annual salary/hourly range for this role is currently $250,000 - $350,000 . Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members. Our recruiters can share more information about our bonus program, benefits and equity during the hiring process. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
