If you would like to join us, we are looking for a Lead Data Engineer that will work on delivering a world class data platform with a strong focus on outcomes and practical trade offs to meet
business objectives. While technical in nature this team member is expected to understand how the business works and help drive those outcomes over anything else.
About You
You Excel in Python and SQL, while you are a master at system design and data modeling - you know what the difference is between a fact and a dimension. A problem-solver at heart, you focus on impactful solutions that focus on both the business and people from our customers to the folks building and supporting our product. You view AI as a seismic shift in data work, and you are prepared to harness its potential. You flourish in a fast-paced place while navigating ambiguity to deliver a cut above results.
You know that mentoring and collaborating pay dividends and you help your team, and others grow by communicating clearly. You are also passionate about writing maintainable, testable code and following the latest DataOps practices because you don't like getting paged in the middle of the night.
You have experience in SaaS, fintech, and direct-to-consumer ventures. You're skilled in dbt/sqlmesh and have used Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery like a pro. After all, SQL is SQL. You believe icebergs are great for cooling the planet, but they also make a good table. You enjoy using statistics to solve real business problems. Most importantly, you are dedicated to projects that create positive change for others.
About The Role
This role is part of our Data engineering function and will work cross-functionally to support teams across the company to create state of the art data-driven insights and reporting foundations. You'll partner with teams to structure the system and empower the teams. You will work closely with engineering, analytic, and AI teams.
Qualifications
4-7+ years of experience
Experience with shipping to production and on-call work
Well-versed in test-driven development and deployment
Deep understanding and supporting business needs/strategies required to build products
Strong python and SQL skills - from decorators to CTE’s
Proven ability to mentor data engineers, align technical solutions with business goals, and influence cross-functional teams.
Skilled in test-driven development, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps best practices
Bonus Points For
Experience working in a tech company and/or high-growth startup
If you have some Go experience, great.
Strong data modeling skills - activitySchema, Star Schema and, when you should use a SCD.
Highly organized, with a strong level of communication
Experience integrating AI-assisted workflows effectively into complex engineering tasks.
Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in developer communities.
