Job description

This is a remote position.

The Estimator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and operational success of construction projects by delivering precise, well-researched, and comprehensive cost estimates. This position involves interpreting and analyzing architectural and engineering documents, quantifying materials and labour, and assessing equipment requirements to produce accurate estimates aligned with project objectives and specifications. The Estimator works closely with Project Managers, suppliers, and stakeholders to gather essential data, support cost control measures, and identify cost-saving opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

Preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects, ensuring alignment with design, specifications, and overall project objectives.

Reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, engineering documents, specifications, and contract terms to fully understand project requirements and constraints.

Analyzing construction documents to assess project scope, requirements, and feasibility.

Quantifying materials, equipment, and labour required for the project to ensure precise and realistic estimates.

Evaluating and incorporating pricing for materials, labour, and equipment based on market data, historical information, and competitive pricing.

Researching and sourcing competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to optimize cost efficiency.

Collaborating closely with Project Managers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to gather, verify, and consolidate project data required for cost estimates.

Maintaining clear and open communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the estimating process.

Supporting ongoing cost control throughout the project lifecycle by providing accurate estimates, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and offering input for budget review and adjustment.

Helping to facilitate cost-saving measures and making recommendations to optimize overall project efficiency and resource utilization.



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong experience working in construction and skilled in preparing detailed cost estimates and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Strong experience with budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial reporting within the construction or engineering industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of material, labour, and equipment cost structures, with the ability to assess and analyze pricing for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with Project Managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant estimating and project management software (such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Excel, MS Project, or similar).
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management abilities, ensuring timely delivery of estimates and supporting documents for review and decision‑making.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, prioritizing tasks and maintaining focus in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related field is highly advantageous.
