Annual salary: up to £40,000.00

Assistant Estimator

Location: Remote/Hybrid pattern to your nearest branch - this will also depend on the experience and the level of support required

Salary: Up to 40,000 plus car or car allowance 

Type: Full-Time | Permanent

40 hours per week Monday – Friday

About the Role

We’re currently looking for a motivated individual with housing maintenance experience, either operational or commercial to join us in a developmental role designed to support our growing estimating team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career and build a future in commercial management as an estimator within our housing maintenance division. Whether you're a graduate Quantity Surveyor, a qualified QS looking to move into estimating, a site supervisor with a strong commercial mindset, or someone who’s worked their way up from the tools and thrives on data and detail—we want to hear from you.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across a variety of repairs, planned works and compliance projects, working alongside experienced professionals who will support your growth in estimating, cost control, and wider commercial functions. We’re committed to investing in talent and providing a clear pathway into a key commercial role within our business.

Role criteria

  • Interpreting and analysing SORs, NHF documents, and tender packages
  • Working with large volumes of data to produce accurate cost estimates
  • Collaborating with commercial, procurement, and operational teams
  • Visiting branches and project sites as needed
  • Using Excel and other tools to build and manage pricing models
  • Supporting the preparation of bids and tenders

Minimum requirements

  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Excellent numeracy and financial acumen
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • A background in building experience—whether on-site or in a commercial role
  • Willingness to undertake a competency test as part of the selection process

Ideal Candidates May Be:

  • A graduate QS looking to specialise in estimating
  • A site supervisor with experience in SOR/NHF documentation
  • A tradesperson who’s moved into commercial or data-heavy roles
  • Someone with experience in cost planning, procurement, or finance within construction
