This is a hybrid position with 2 -3 days in the Columbia, Maryland office, and the remaining days work-from-home.
The Junior Accountant & Admin Support Assistant position provides essential support to both the Finance Department and general office operations. This role assists with accounts payable and financial recordkeeping, while also offering day-to-day administrative support to a leadership team member, including scheduling, document preparation, and general coordination. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small office environment.
Responsibilities:
Process and manage vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare timely payments.
Maintain vendor accounts and reconcile statements.
Review and process employee expense reports via Concur.
Assist with payroll journal entries and coordination of state payroll tax filings with the payroll vendor.
Provide general administrative support to the CEO, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, handling light correspondence, and assisting with follow-ups.
Organize digital and physical files, maintain spreadsheets, and help with internal tracking tasks.
Support preparation of reports, presentations, organization charts, agendas, and other documentation.
Assist with ordering office supplies and coordinating general office needs.
Participate in special projects and financial or administrative process improvements.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
2–3 years of experience in accounting, office administration, or a combined support role.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Familiarity with Concur or other expense management platforms is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks.
Comfortable handling confidential information with professionalism.
Good communication skills and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
