Overview: We are looking for a reliable and experienced HR Associate to support core HR and administrative functions, with a strong focus on payroll management, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience in the agriculture or related sectors, and be comfortable handling the practical realities of field staff, this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage payroll and HR documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Payroll and Staff Compensation
· Process monthly payroll for all staff, including field-based and seasonal workers
· Verify timesheets, leave records, allowances, deductions, and ensure timely payments.
· Collaborate with Tax consultant for statutory remittances (PAYE, pensions, NHF, etc.).
· Maintain accurate payroll records for audits and internal reporting.
2. HR Administration
· Maintain up-to-date employee records, contracts, and HR documentation.
· Draft HR letters, manage employment files, and ensure compliance with HR procedures.
· Support in managing HR software or spreadsheets used for attendance, leave, and personnel data.
3. Recruitment & Onboarding
· Coordinate hiring logistics including job posting, interview scheduling, and communication.
· Support onboarding of new employees across field locations, ensuring proper documentation and orientation.
4. Employee Relations & Support
· Act as the first point of contact for employee HR-related queries, ensuring timely resolution.
· Assist with conflict resolution and grievance handling, escalating where necessary.
5. Compliance & Reporting
· Ensure adherence to Nigerian labor laws and internal policies, especially with regard to payroll and contract staff.
· Prepare monthly reports on staff headcount, payroll changes, and HR activities.
6. Field HR Support (Agriculture Context)
· Support HR coordination for field teams and seasonal workers during planting and harvest periods.
· Work with operations and Agronomists to align HR practices with workforce realities on the ground.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
· Minimum of 4 years of HR experience, preferably within agriculture, FMCG, or field-based operations.
· Strong hands-on experience in payroll processing and employee data management.
· Familiarity with Nigerian labor law and statutory deductions.
· Proficient in Excel and HR/payroll software (e.g. HRMS, Sage, Zoho People).
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with field and head office teams.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
