Position at Dr PM Sleep and Wellness Medical Center

Position Title: Medical Assistant           
Location: Dr PM Sleep and Wellness Medical Center: 12395 El Camino Real Suite 209 San Diego, CA 92130
Employment Type: Full Time                  
Typical Work Schedule:  Monday to Friday, 8:00 am -12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm 
Hourly Range: $20.00 - 25.00 (based on level of experience.)

Introducing the newly established Dr. PM Sleep and Wellness Medical Center, founded by Dr. Pegah Mashayekhi, specializing in sleep, weight loss, and wellness. Located in Carmel Valley and Oceanside, our clinic offers exceptional care tailored to individual needs. Dr. Mashayekhi brings her expertise and patient-focused approach to this new venture, ensuring personalized attention for every visitor.   
Joining our dedicated team, we seek a Medical Assistant to support our operations across all locations. 

Essential Functions:                  

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and proactively in a dynamic, fast-paced clinic setting.
  • Proficiency in managing both virtual and in-person patient appointments.
  • Skilled in scheduling appointments, guiding new patients, and facilitating the transition of patients from previous practices.
  • Competence in navigating and utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Responsible for preparing patient charts, including organizing documents for sleep studies, lab results, and CURES, for upcoming weeks.
  • Acquiring CPAP data downloads and collaborating closely with local Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers.
  • Take patient histories, vital signs, and assist with patient inquiries. 
  • Assisting in the creation of History of Present Illness (HPI) notes.
  • Capable of administering intramuscular B12 and sample injections on occasion.
  • Handling authorizations for patient referrals and prior authorizations for medications.
  • Training in the use of PAP masks and assisting patients with fitting sample PAP masks.
  • Experience in sleep medicine, neurology, pulmonary, or ENT is highly desirable.
  • Performing autoclaving tasks approximately twice a week.

Additional Job Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Acquiring CPAP data downloads and collaborating closely with local Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers.
  • Capable of administering intramuscular B12 and sample injections on occasion.

Highly Desirable

  • Training in the use of CPAP masks and assisting patients with fitting sample PAP masks.
  • Experience in sleep medicine, psychiatry/behavioral health, neurology, pulmonology, cardiology or ENT
  • Fast typing skills and experience with Microsoft Applications like Outlook and Teams
 
 Competencies & Success Factors:                  
  • A Medical Assistant Certificate is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a comparable role within the healthcare sector is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to ensure effective interactions with patients and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, particularly in managing patient records and clinical responsibilities.
  • Proficient in the use of EMR systems and knowledgeable in medical terminology.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and poise under pressure.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

 What We Offer:                  

  • After demonstrating exceptional performance for 90 days, the possibility of working from home one day every two weeks will be considered.
