Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a civil engineer to join a team of highly motivated conservation biologists and engineers responsible for the planning, design, and construction of diverse wetland, stream and wild land restoration projects in the Pacific Northwest. This is a remote, work-from-home position, with a preferred location in or near Everett, WA, or surrounding areas in the northern Puget Sound region. The engineer will be part of a larger team of conservation professionals that cover the nine states under Ducks Unlimited Western Region headquartered in Rancho Cordova, CA.

Qualifications

Candidates must have at minimum a B.S in Civil Engineering (or closely related field) and be a registered Professional Engineer (PE license) in Washington or be able to obtain licensure within 6-months. Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years’ relevant engineering experience. Desirable qualifications include project management, GPS surveying, Civil3D, hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, construction contracting, construction inspection and management, soil science, hydraulics, agricultural engineering, and levee/canal design. Experience with tidal and estuary wetland restoration, as well as stream restoration and fish barrier modifications would be beneficial. Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Candidates must be self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships. Candidates must be able to perform field work that includes strenuous outdoor activity in sometimes difficult environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

Regional Engineers perform a full range of project planning, design, contracting, and construction management functions on wetland, stream and associated habitat restoration projects. A close working relationship with DU Biologists, other DU staff, local, state, and federal agency personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners will be an important aspect of the job.
