Job description

SWJ Technologie specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking a Senior Agile Master – IT Governance and Compliance candidate for a car manufacturer in Spartanburg, SC. This is a long-term Contractor role based in Spartanburg, SC. PURPOSE: 
This position blends Agile Master responsibilities with a strong focus on IT governance and compliance. While grounded in Agile methodologies, this role is not purely executional. It requires a professional who is equally passionate about steering compliance, maturing Agile processes, and acting as a key liaison between regional teams and central Agile leadership in Munich, Germany. This is a position requiring strong business analysis skills, facilitation, and communication expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and mature the Agile working model within the department; support Agile Masters across the region (Canada to Argentina).
  • Ensure adherence to core Agile practices (e.g. sprint reviews, retrospectives) and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Act as a key bridge between the Americas region and the central Agile steering team in Germany.
  • Provide IT governance and compliance leadership; actively participate in compliance-focused projects and discussions.
  • Coach and mentor Agile Masters in the Americas, including organizing and facilitating training sessions and workshops.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration across multiple project teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Develop and maintain communication materials, steering decks, and compliance documentation.
  • Support implementation of large, scaled Agile initiatives involving cross-functional teams.
  • Own and manage impediment backlogs, promote knowledge sharing across teams, and ensure smooth sprint execution.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira).
  • Lead or support multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring BMW IT standards are upheld.
  • Perform analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, and support of IT solutions.
  • Provide high-level business analysis support, including the collection and documentation of business requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Agile, compliance, and project governance topics.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management, or Computer Science — or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile methodologies and frameworks, ideally in a scaled Agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IT governance, compliance, and process management.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT project management, analysis, and system implementation.
  • Proven experience as a business analyst or project lead in IT environments.
  • Experience coaching Agile teams or acting in an Agile leadership role (Agile Coach experience is highly preferred but not required).
  • PMO certification is a plus.
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong command of Agile tools, especially Jira and Confluence.
  • Deep understanding of Agile practices coupled with a passion for governance and compliance topics.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Confident communicator across diverse business and technical audiences.
  • Comfortable leading group training, workshops, and process rollouts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: 90% Spartanburg, SC, 10% other Locations / 50% onsite, 50% work from home
  • Travel: ~10% (potential international travel to Germany)
  • Schedule: Day shift, 40/h
  • Assignment Start: ASAP
