Position Summary:  The Master Data Management (MDM) Solution Architect is a strategic role responsible for leading the design, implementation and day-today operations of MDM solutions across the enterprise. This individual will define the overall MDM architecture, develop best practices, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality master data for key domains such as customer, product, and supplier data. The MDM Solution Architect plays a critical role in aligning data strategies with business objectives, ensuring integration across platforms, and supporting data governance initiatives. This role helps create and define Thorne's data governance approach working in partnership with the IT Governance team and similar Business Teams (ex: EPMO). 

The role has an operational component, as this is not a pure-governance role. The role has an BSA support component as well (BSA = Business Systems Analysis).


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop enterprise-level MDM architecture and reference models.
  • Create and maintain various master data process supporting document, such as data flow diagrams, data lineage/data catalogue, etc. 
  • Define MDM implementation strategies, including data integration, matching, survivorship, and stewardship.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of MDM tools and technologies (future phase).
  • Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into MDM solutions.
  • Provide architectural oversight for MDM implementations, ensuring scalability, performance, and security (future phase).
  • Collaborate with data governance team members (matrix org) to define standards and best practices.
  • Support data migration, profiling, and cleansing efforts to ensure quality master data.
  • Conduct technical reviews and ensure compliance with architectural standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to data relevant FTEs.


What You Need

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.  
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in data management and architecture, with a strong focus on MDM.
  • Expertise/exposure in MDM platforms.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, data integration (ETL), and data quality tools.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and data stewardship processes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with Agile or DevOps methodologies is preferred 
  • Develops and delivers on assigned objectives within requested timeframes.
  • Knowledge of various corporate tools such as SmartSheet / MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio / Lucid Charts, etc is very useful.
