Position Summary

 

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Trust and Identity leads the strategic direction and operational excellence of the division while serving as Executive Director of InCommon, LLC. This role drives service delivery, relationship management and business objectives through core program areas including: delivery and management of the InCommon Federation and InCommon Certificate Service; eduroam wireless services; Catalyst industry program; Training and Development via the InCommon Academy; Community Enrichment programs such as webinars and identity-related engagement initiatives; and execution of the Futures2 Program's strategic objectives. The AVP collaborates with the community to identify, design, fund, and deploy innovative services while working closely with interdependent organizational functions including Marketing and Communications, Community Engagement, Technology Services and Architecture, Legal, Finance and Accounting, and International Collaborations to ensure comprehensive program success.

 

Essential Duties: 

 

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for Trust and Identity Services division with focus on federation services, certificate services, wireless infrastructure, training programs, third-party support program, and community engagement 
  • Direct the delivery and management of the InCommon Federation, InCommon Certificate Service infrastructure, and eduroam wireless services delivery and community support 
  • Oversee the InCommon Academy's training, enrichment, and professional development offerings including educational webinars and knowledge-sharing initiatives 
  • Execute Futures2 Program strategic objectives and milestones 
  • Develop and execute Community Relationship Programs  
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications, Community Engagement, Technology Services, Legal, Finance, and International Collaborations teams 
  • Manage divisional teams, project management, financial performance, and administrative functions
  • Requires close collaboration with several organizational functions to ensure comprehensive program success: 
    • Marketing and Communications: Program promotion, member communications, event marketing, and brand alignment 
    • Community Engagement: Member relations, feedback collection, needs assessment, and stakeholder management 
    • Technology Services and Architecture: Infrastructure support, technical integration, security oversight, and system reliability 
    • Legal: Compliance management, contract negotiations, policy development, and risk assessment 
    • Finance and Accounting: Budget management, revenue tracking, pricing strategies, and financial sustainability planning 
  • International Collaborations: Global partnership development, international standards alignment, and cross-border service delivery

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience demonstrating comparable technical competency.
  •  10+ years of progressive leadership experience with direct oversight of technical leaders and organizational management team members
  •  Direct experience and knowledge of higher education environments
  •  Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational leadership capabilities, with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage geographically distributed projects, and coordinate initiatives across multiple organizational levels and stakeholder groups.
  •  Advanced customer service and relationship management skills, demonstrating effectiveness in communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including both technical specialists and non-technical community members

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  •  Graduate degree or above 
  •  Successful experience within academic, research, or higher education technology environments, with understanding of research and education IT infrastructure requirements and community dynamics.

Salary Range / Pay Grade:

$194,400 (Entry-Point)-$243,000 (Mid-Point) IT-8

Starting pay is typically from the minimum up to the midpoint of the salary range and varies based on experience.

Senior level compensation commensurate with education and experience.
