Job Summary
Under the direction of the Program Manager of CCR, Education and Training, Grief Support Response Specialist will be responsible for the execution of grief support and CCR responses and follow ups to CCR requests. Response specialist will assist Supervisor in all aspects of grief education and training for BWC Staff and Interns, emergency responders, health care professionals, schools, corporations, hospitals, social service agencies and the community at large. Responsible for responding within the community and may be assigned to triage incoming requests.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Assists Program Manager with ongoing training and education on the issues of grief, loss, trauma, serious illness and stress.
Specialists will conduct trainings and wellness presentations in support of the VTA staff members.
Person will support VTA 526 Resiliency Center with their support of the VTA staff members in rewards to grief, and promote wellness.
Help to support and facilitate volunteer engagement and organization for grief services responses.
Implements trainings for special topics as assigned.
Meets with Program Manager of CCR Education and Training weekly for planning/ supervision.
Attends community and Health/Disaster response related meetings throughout the community as needed.
Assists Program Manager with special events such as Light of Lights Candle ceremony and Grief in the Holidays.
Conducts Adult and Youth Crisis Interventions as requested from community including charges for service when appropriate.
When assigned responds to requests for CCR by screening, identifying needs and supporting responses.
Ensures that CCR forms are submitted for billing.
Provides crisis phone support as needed.
Attend agency and other program meetings as appropriate.
Ensure that site is neat and tidy and report all maintenance or safety issues to manager or Facilities Manager immediately.
Regular attendance is a requirement of the position.
Participate in agency Program Quality Improvement activities and initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
Two years experience in performing presentation/training.
Two years of grief experience is highly desirable.
Experience gathering and preparing grant required billing and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling or related field. Master’s Level preferred
Personal or lived experience with housing instability, social services, systemic challenges, or the criminal/legal system is valued.
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization in a tactful and using trauma informed skills.
Experience working with culturally diverse families and grief and loss, required.
Person will be required to gather information while supporting members in the community, staff members, volunteers, and partners.
Person must be able to lead grief training, engaging participants in dialogue and practice of skills presented in a trauma informed manner.
When responding to Community Crisis Response events, a person must have the ability to stay calm and allow space for clients.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
Light Work requires occasionally moving up to 20 pounds.

Person will need to stand or sit in front of an audience when training or presenting information to groups.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work environment will include office work, traveling into the community, and other agencies.
Work can be performed both indoors and outdoors.
Salary Range
$30.00 - $34.00 per hour
