The Continuous Improvement Specialist will support the continuous improvement team in building out tactical plans along with developing and implementing process initiatives to drive improvement in productivity, quality, and service across the BBG network of distribution centers. This role will also work to improve the integration of BBG operations into the overall supply chain, both upstream with suppliers and downstream with customers. This corporate role works in a collaborative & cross functional environment to implement CI methods, engineering methodologies, lean tools, and training to support sustainable continuous improvement that improves both operational and financial metrics.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
Operations Support and Strategic Planning
Secondary resource for supporting Operations AOP strategic plans focused on cost reduction.
Process & systems subject matter expert providing training, coaching and mentoring to develop site Subject Matter Experts.
Process Analysis and Improvement
Analyze existing processes, identifying bottlenecks & inefficiencies, work closely with cross functional leadership to execute improvement opportunities.
Analyze performance data, metrics, and KPIs to identify trends, and areas of opportunity.
Labor Standards and Best Practices
Support the established and maintained engineered labor standards. Provide corporate analytics and reporting to CI Managers for oversight of their supporting sites.
Educate others in support of spreading best practices across all site locations.
Develop and maintain operating guidelines (SOPs) and training curriculums.
Optimization and Technology Integration
Develop and present innovative solutions to optimize workflows – process, systems, technology, automation.
Leverage the Warehouse Management System to drive operational efficiencies.
Assist in the Implementation of process initiatives that support company sustainability objectives.
Continuous Improvement and Industry Trends
Analyze and share metrics that measure effectiveness of CI initiatives.
Guide and assist project and site operations managers on lean six sigma skills.
Stay abreast with latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business, supply chain or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in leading process improvement or six sigma leadership
Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software
Skilled in the use Excel, with a basic understanding of formulas and the ability to work with large data sets.
Excellent analytic and reporting skills.
Results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Green or black belt six sigma certification
SAP system experience and understanding
Successful completion of internal MDP program or similar
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to remain in a stationary position at times; communicate, and operate a computer and telephone
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
