Generalist Procurement Manager

Role Overview
The Generalist Procurement Manager will lead and manage procurement activities across multiple indirect and direct spend categories for a private equity-backed business or portfolio. The role focuses on building and professionalizing procurement capability, delivering cost efficiencies, managing supplier relationships, and supporting post-deal value creation and transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in private equity environments, demonstrating agility, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work within fast-paced, change-driven settings.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies across all categories with particular focus on Technology and Professional Services
  • Lead supplier sourcing, selection, due diligence, and onboarding processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance standards
  • Establish and optimize procurement processes, policies, and procedures, integrating with ERP and P2P systems
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial terms to deliver cost savings and value for money
  • Manage and consolidate vendor relationships, including performance monitoring, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and spend analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, legal, operations) and act as a trusted procurement partner to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, sustainability, and ethical sourcing standards
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance, savings, and supplier risk.


Requirements
Required Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience in a procurement management role, ideally in a private equity, investment, or high-growth environment
  • Strong track record in supplier negotiation, contract management, and delivering cost efficiencies
  • Experience establishing or professionalizing procurement functions, including process and policy development
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to conduct spend analysis, market research, and benchmarking
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and adaptable approach, comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced change
  • Familiarity with procurement technology and ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite and G-Suite is advantageous)

Desirable Attributes
  • Experience supporting post-deal integration, carve-outs, or operational transformation in PE-backed businesses
  • Exposure to a variety of spend categories and supplier markets.
  • Passion for building scalable procurement functions and driving continuous improvement.

UK Working Hours: 9 am - 5 pm (Would be nice to have flexibility to support US clients from time to time with a later start & later finish)
