Student Health and Wellness is seeking a Health Educator to provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive student wellness programs at Georgia State University. The Health Educator works within the Student Health Promotion unit, this position collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to address the diverse health and wellness needs of the campus community. The Health Educator is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective health education initiatives, services, and partnerships that promote informed, healthy lifestyle choices and foster a culture of wellbeing across all Georgia State campuses.

Here Is What You Will Do:
  • Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based wellness education programs that address key health issues affecting college students (e.g., alcohol and drug use, sexual health, nutrition, stress management, smoking cessation, mental health).
  • Lead ongoing campaigns, workshops, and resource initiatives to promote student health.
  • Develop and conduct seminars, presentations, and training sessions in diverse settings, including academic courses (e.g., GSU 1010), residence halls, and student organization events.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with university departments and organizations, including Health Services, Counseling Center, Recreational Services, University Housing, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and academic departments.
  • Stay current with public health literature and trends in college student wellness.
  • Identify and share best practices and innovative strategies for health education and behavior change.
  • Design and administer student health surveys to collect baseline and follow-up data, identify program priorities, evaluate program outcomes, and monitor trends in student health behaviors.
  • Serve on university and divisional committees.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Student Wellness or other leadership within the Division of Student Engagement.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required to support the mission of Student Health Promotion and the Division of Student Engagement.


Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Master's degree in Health Education or a related field and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES)
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Familiarity with current health education theories and behavior change models
  • Experience using data to drive programming decisions
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in health education, preferably in a college/university setting
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating health and wellness programs

Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
