GENERAL SUMMARY 

The VP of Engineering leads our Application Development and Digital Banking Product Management teams. Technology is core to enabling and scaling CFCU's member experience. This VP leads the critical parts of the technology solution development for both member and internal facing applications, as well as establishes the overall technical vision, architecture, and culture of innovation for the company. They manage both internal and external development teams, which build and maintain all our platforms and applications. 

Engineering is a fast-paced and fluid business environment. The VP has good judgment, can act as a change manager to evangelize technology, and knows when to balance resiliency and thoroughness with creativity and grit to achieve desired goals and solutions.  

POSITION DUTIES & FUNCTIONS 

  • Cultivates a culture of transparency and employee empowerment by implementing consistent leadership practices and feedback mechanisms 
  • Defines, monitors, and analyzes product metrics and incorporates learnings back into the development process across the different internal and external product and service offerings. 
  • Provides oversight, strategic management, enterprise architecture, and technical direction for development of product and services offerings of CFCU’s digital platforms. This includes mobile banking, online banking, and other modern digital member-facing software-as-a-service (SAAS) applications. 
  • Identifies emerging trends through assessing member insights, industry trends, and overall societal trends to ensure CFCU’s products and services are current, relevant, and forward focused. 
  • Creates a consistent member experience in all applicable channels where feasible, while increasing profitability and usage through simple and easy to do business with solutions. 
  • Works with internal partners, key stakeholders, and relevant internal departments to define and develop product functionality and features and the roadmap for future enhancements that drive product adoption and performance. 
  • Develops formal vendor performance management frameworks, including SLAs, escalation protocols, and accountability measures for critical technology partners. 
  • Works collaboratively with internal partners to develop technology strategies and implement product changes/enhancements. Actively prioritizes product backlog and participates in release planning activities. 
  • Leads product development and platform strategy for Salesforce (MARS), including custom application development, data architecture, and systems integration. Ensures scalable and secure deployment of Salesforce solutions aligned with internal operations and member service needs. 
  • Oversees the technical implementation and governance of internal applications used by staff, including workflow automations, case management, and integrations with systems such as Symitar, ServiceNow, and core banking platforms. 
  • Champions the use of emerging technologies such as AI, low-code platforms, and advanced analytics to improve operational efficiency and reduce staff burden across departments. 
  • Acts as a key stakeholder in vendor evaluations and platform selections, ensuring technical solutions align with both the enterprise architecture and long-term strategic objectives. 
  • Cultivates a culture of accountability and execution within engineering teams, with clear emphasis on SDLC maturity, delivery velocity, technical quality, and user-centric design. Operates the department with a business owner mindset—actively managing budgets, headcount, vendor contracts, and resource allocations to ensure return on investment. Aligns engineering priorities with broader organizational objectives, balancing innovation with risk, cost, and time-to-market. Uses data to drive decisions, regularly assessing team performance, value delivery, and operational efficiency to continuously improve outcomes. 
  • Implements standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and KPIs to improve accountability and reduce administrative burden 
  • Develops transparent resource capacity planning and allocation processes to optimize team productivity while maintaining sustainable workloads 
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS  

 EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience managing the development, implementation, integration, and performance of online and mobile banking technologies, including technologies such as money transfer, application security, SAML based integrations, etc.   
  • Experience with Tyfone or other digital banking providers is a plus. 
  • 10+ years of product leadership experience in mobile consumer products with a focus on user growth or engagement. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading cultural transformation initiatives and rebuilding trust in underperforming teams 
  • Proven track record managing complex vendor relationships in financial services, including performance management and escalation resolution 
  • Proven track record running a high-performing team. 
  • A solid understanding of the AGILE framework for SDLC. 
  • Experience with credit union/financial vertical technologies is a plus. 
  • Experience evaluating and implementing third-party product or service solutions. 
  • Project management experience preferred. 
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated qualifications.   
  • Experience with commercial middleware integration solutions, such as Boomi Integrate or Mulesoft. 
  • Experience with product development on the Salesforce platform or other similar platform is preferred. 
  • Experience with the Symitar Episys platform preferred. 

 KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS 

  • Technical knowledge to thoroughly understand and make necessary changes to various online and mobile banking applications and related products and services.   
  • Proficiency in the use of APIs such as SOAP and REST based integrations.  
  • Proficiency in UI/UX design and enterprise architecture. 
  • Proficiency in SAML 2.0 based, federation technology. 
  • Broad knowledge of credit union operations including functions, products & services, and regulations. 
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise technology delivery program using industry best practices adopted for our organizational size and complexity. 
  • Ability to write and speak effectively in English using correct spelling and grammar.  
  • Basic math skills including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages using a 10-key. 
  • Proficient in the use of basic applications in a Windows-based environment, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.  Moderate keyboard skills at 40 wpm.

Zone 2: $151,467.68 -  $227,201.52

Zone 3: $139,816.32 - $209,724.48
