What does a Senior Accountant do at Rinnai?

The senior accountant is the main accounting resource for the Director, Financial Controller. This position is primarily responsible for month-end closing activities, account reconciliations, and account analysis. The position is also responsible for month end reporting and internal and external audit requests. This person is also the main contact for tax data requests and monitoring and following up on tax notices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete monthly closing activities according to the month end timeline
  • Calculate, prepare, and post journal entries with supporting documentation.
  • Accurately assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Efficiently maintain and update reports used for monthly and quarterly reporting using Syteline/CSI, data warehouse, and Oracle FCCS
  • Support the preparation of consolidated monthly and quarterly reporting to Rinnai Japan as required.
  • Prepare and present monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Work with FP&A on annual budget preparation and preparing the monthly budget variance analysis.
  • Support internal controls evaluations, JSOX compliance, risk assessments, and reviews of risk areas.
  • Participate in quarterly balance sheet reviews and extended Finance team meetings.
  • Prepare supporting audit schedules and analysis as needed and interface with external auditors quarterly.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of continuous improvement and teamwork dedicated to achieving corporate and departmental goals.
  • Maintain an awareness of, and compliance with, company policies and procedures.
  • Provide analytical and financial support to other departments.

REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a corporate accounting environment
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP

 

SKILLS

  • Extremely detail oriented, accurate, and able to complete assignments on time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Analytical, flexible, and able to adjust to and learn new processes and procedures.
  • Strong people, analytical, and reasoning skills required.
  • Strong sense of, and compliance with, ethical standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
