The Director of Information Technology provides hands-on leadership across RKD’s infrastructure, help desk, and security functions. This role ensures reliable and secure IT services while improving core systems, workflows, and user experiences. The Director plays a key role in maintaining compliance with security standards (including SOC 2), managing vendors and contractors, and advancing RKD’s hybrid-cloud environment, which includes Microsoft 365, AWS, and Azure services.
Working closely with business stakeholders, the Director supports organizational goals by enabling scalable, secure, cost-effective technology solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively across all levels, and brings a solution-oriented mindset to every challenge.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Security & Compliance
- Lead and enforce information security strategy, commitments and policies in alignment with business objectives and compliance needs (e.g., SOC 2 Type II).
- Chair the RKD Security Control Committee and lead the RKD Information Security Team.
- Manage RKD’s Information Security Awareness Program to educate employees on evolving best practices.
- Coordinate the Risk Management Program and advise leadership on IT-related risks.
- Oversee and guide the investigation and response to information security incidents.
- Oversee and guide all compliance audits (e.g. SOC2 Type II) for multiple environments and tools.
Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee all infrastructure and help desk operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and end-user satisfaction.
- Lead teams responsible for systems administration, network management, and endpoint support.
- Ensure effective implementation of IT service management practices (incident, change, problem, capacity, and configuration management).
- Develop, document, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Evaluate and implement improvements to tools, systems, and processes across the IT landscape.
- Ensure proper documentation, inventory management, and configuration standards for all IT assets.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and contractors to ensure service quality, value, and accountability.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and services that support RKD’s evolving business and technical needs.
- Participate in contract negotiations and renewals in coordination with Procurement and Legal teams.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Enablement
- Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Product teams to align IT initiatives with business priorities.
- Support onboarding and employee enablement by ensuring consistent IT experiences, hardware provisioning, and tool access.
- Partner with data, development, and analytics teams to align infrastructure support with technical projects and roadmaps.
Leadership & Culture
- Provide subject matter expertise and directional input in strategic roadmap for hybrid-cloud environment enablement.
- Set priorities for the Help Desk and Infrastructure teams and track performance against defined KPIs and SLAs.
- Build and maintain a positive team culture based on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training and development plans for team members.
- Encourage innovation, experimentation, and thoughtful risk-taking in line with RKD’s values.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure, hybrid-cloud environments (AWS, Microsoft 365, Azure), and IT service delivery models.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and dotted-line technical teams.
- Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-site IT projects and operations.
- Strong knowledge of SOC 2 compliance requirements and modern security frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with a bias toward action, capable of balancing short-term execution with long-term thinking.
LOCATION: Remote with periodic travel to the Dallas office as needed.
Pay range expected for the position: $130,000 to $150,000 annually.
