On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled Spacecraft Data Handling Engineer, to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.

What is expected from you:

• Provide Technical Support to Projects
  • Requires experience in ESA projects
  • Requires hands-on experience in OBC, Spacecraft Data Handling, avionics, electronics developments
• Provide Support to R&D Programmes
  • Requires technical expertise in spacecraft avionics to support:
    • Implementation and execution of R&D activities
    • Procurement of avionics hardware (OBCs, Mass memories, Instrument Control Units, Remote Terminal/Interface Units, CubeSat/SmallSat systems, Payload processing units, etc.)
  • Requires contribution to coordination and knowledge management in the field
• Provide Support to Data Handling Laboratory Facilities
  • Requires experience with spacecraft facilities to support ESA staff in:
    • AI Facility
    • Payload Data Handling Facility
    • ADHA/SAVOIR/RASTA Facility
    • CubeSat Facility
  • Requires experience in HW & SW for benchmarking of microprocessors, microcontrollers, AI/ML processing engines and accelerators, payload processing modules

What you offer:

• Master degree in the relevant field
• Experience in ESA projects to be able to support the project reviews throughout all the project phases, e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.
• Experience in Spacecraft On-Board Computers (OBC) or Data Handling throughout all ESA project phases.
• Experience in Spacecraft avionics architecture
• Experience in Space microprocessors
• Preferably >7 years relevant experience on spacecraft
• A "feeling" on the nature of the work, and the support

Where:

You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
