Your Role
The People & Engagement HR:Connect team is a critical part of Human Resources service delivery for all of Blue Shield of California (BSC). The team provides first level support to all BSC employees on a daily basis for both daily operations and employee-facing initiatives. The HR Specialist, Advanced, will report to the Manager, HR:Connect. In this role you will be assisting all employees on all things Human Resources through enabling self-service, providing phone, chat, and case-based support in addition to executing employee lifecycle transactions.

Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Review all HRIS transactional process requirements on a daily/weekly and as needed basis and manage the approval or rejection process
- Understand the core HR policies and processes to make quality and timely processing decisions
- Escalate transactional process issues and advanced issues to management for review
- Manage all incoming HR cases/calls/chats requiring significant, HR Generalist knowledge and understanding a wide variety of HR processes, policies, and technical procedures such as questions pertaining to benefits, compensation, wellness programs, and leave of absence
- Leverage other key business contacts as needed to resolve employee inquiries and related processes and deliverables (i.e., LOA, Benefits, Retirement, HR Tech, Payroll, Compensation, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Eligibility, Performance Management, Benefits, Corporate Real Estate)
- Manage cases with the utmost care, quality, and attention to detail, all while providing accurate information while enhancing the employee's experience with HR:Connect
- Consult with leadership on any possible trends or escalations and may become point of contact for reaching out to other HR Centers of Excellence
- Understand the latest changes to internal HR processes, policies, procedures which typically come in weekly and sometimes daily
Qualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 5 years related experience, including at least 2 years of Human Resources Operations or other HR experience in an HR role
- Requires broad knowledge of operational systems and practices typically gained through extensive experience and/or education
- Requires strong knowledge of HR principles, practices and regulations, with a demonstrated ability to apply them in a practical, solution-oriented manner
- Requires at least 2 years of HR-related high-volume intakes in an HR role
- Requires technical skills and experience with Microsoft office (especially Excel), HRIS and Payroll management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be self-motivated, solutions oriented, able to work independently, and values team collaboration

Two Ways of Working:
- Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above).Exceptions:
- Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.
- Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.
- For employees with medical conditions that may impact their ability to work in-office, we are committed to engaging in an interactive process and providing reasonable accommodations to ensure their work environment is conducive to their success and well-being.
- On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.
Physical Requirements:
Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
