Job Description:

DB Global Technology (DBGT), also known as Bucharest Excellence Center (BEX) is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank’s AG established in Bucharest, Romania, as a dedicated application development and software engineering center for leading-edge technology solutions that power the future of global capital markets.

The AFC team is responsible for protecting Deutsche Bank from financial and reputational losses incurred by financial crimes by assessing, controlling, and mitigating risks. Risk types related to Anti-Financial Crime are consolidated in a comprehensive and effective risk management framework that covers Anti-Money-Laundering, Sanctions & Embargoes, Anti-Bribery & Corruption as well as Anti-Fraud & Investigations.

The Technical Product Manager is part of the Anti-Fraud Bribery and Corruption (AFBC) delivery Tribe, overseeing one of the platforms within AFBC, the Internal Fraud and Strategic Monitoring Team.

As Technical Product Manager, he/she is responsible for day-to-day leadership of teamwork efforts and/or serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing support as needed in the timely transformation of business requirements into technical solutions. The Technical Product Manager provides support as needed with Level 3 operational support for incidents and problem/root-cause as well as having hands on involvement in the development of critical risk monitoring models such as to ensure quality of deliverables, setting up standards and best practices, looking to leverage knowledge into the team, and helping new joiners to ramp up.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead AFBC - Internal Fraud & Strategic Monitoring teams in the design, development and maintenance of risk monitoring frameworks, models and key controls.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across business and technology groups across DB in delivering as per the role specifications.
  • Coordinate the design, development and maintenance of key risk monitoring AI/ML models.
  • Constantly improve Internal Fraud & Strategic Monitoring solutions. Evaluate and improve existing solutions & systems that are in place as well as collaborate with teams within the business to integrate these new solutions & systems to streamline workflow and company processes.
  • Coordinate the development of Technical Documentation.
  • Create management reports related to completed projects, developments and updates of the technical solutions & corresponding documentation for senior members of the management team and colleagues within the department to serve as a reference guide.
  • Actively support the AFC TDI and business strategy, plan and value, contributing to the achievement of a high-performance culture.
  • Act as a role model for new employees, providing help and support to facilitate early integration and assimilation of their new environment.
  • Coordinate the development of new software applications (e.g. data ETLs and pipelines, risk monitoring models) and improve the performance of existing ones.
  • Study new business and IT requests to understand user needs and suggest solutions.
  • Be proactive by proposing enhancements from which the business/IT can benefit.
  • Develop a good understanding of the business needs across all squads in AFBC Internal Fraud & Strategic Monitoring program.
  • Design and implement the necessary system changes in a short feedback loop
  • Build quality into our software through extensive and automatic testing and continuous build.
  • Coordinate and/or collaborate for a continuous technical upgrade of the setup and enhancement of the existing systems.
  • Participate with valuable feedback in Source Code and Design Reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and debug key issues.
  • Provide development and testing guiding to other engineers.
  • Transform requirements into Design concepts and Proof of Concepts.
  • Define the future development directions of the product and the strategies needed to achieve them exploring the entire technology stack.
  • Complete ownership of the delivery and development flows, aiming for continuous improvement.
  • Understand and promote software engineering best practices.
  • Follow the Scrum methodology and participate in the various Scrum meetings as a cross-functional & cross-component team member.

As people manager:

  • Lead the Internal Fraud & Strategic Monitoring teams by building a sound narrative of the teams’ Value Propositions, as well as providing clear communication regarding the team’s priorities, key deliverables and critical milestones
  • Conduct performance reviews of the senior members of the Internal Fraud & Strategic Monitoring team(s) and ensure every individual receives actionable feedback
  • Ensure employees have SMART objectives aligned with the Division’s strategy plans
  • Provide input and guidance to employee’s individual and career development plan; ensure they are captured in db specific tools
  • Ensures that all team members know where to access the relevant policies, procedures and understand why it’s important to complete all mandatory training
  • Identify training needs, adapted to each person specifics

Technical Competence

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience in data science/computer science and/or software delivery for financial institutions.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience demonstrated by key references and/or named projects (incl. the individual's role/contribution in each project).
  • At least 4 years of professional experience with managing mid-to-large size data science teams.
  • Deep understanding of the data science and risk monitoring domains, preferably in a financial industry/environment. Being capable to decide the best architectural approach to sustain a good risk monitoring framework & performance.
  • Deep knowledge of methods and tooling for the Data Scientist profession (incl. AI/ML tools).
  • Hands-on experience with big data, risk modeling and tools.
  • Experience working with business requirements through to system level functional specifications.
  • Experience in a heterogeneous IT environment involving multiple applications and technologies is a plus.
  • Experience in IT change projects and varying project / program environments (waterfall, scrum/agile, etc.)
  • Full SDLC experience on large complex systems is a plus
  • Experience owning a product backlog, sprint planning, prioritizing stories and driving iteration content is a plus.
  • Experience in a financial domain (capital markets, transaction banking, wealth management) and/or related support functions is a plus
  • Deep knowledge of MS Office products.

Education/Certification

  • Degree from an accredited college or university with a preference for Computer Science (or IT related)
  • At least 7 years of experience in IT in a large enterprise working on mission-critical IT systems
