Job description

Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.

We’re embarking on a multi-year journey to unify and modernise our core business operations through a global ERP upgrade and business process standardisation programme. This initiative will streamline how we work across manufacturing, commercial, and support functions—replacing complexity with clarity, and manual effort with intelligent automation.

At the heart of this transformation is a new SAP-enabled platform that will harmonise data, simplify integrations, and empower us to make faster, smarter decisions. From demand planning to financial reporting, we’re building a future-ready foundation that supports growth, innovation, and seamless global collaboration.

As a Business Process Expert – Master Data, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering our global SAP-enabled business process template. You’ll support the standardisation of master data processes across the enterprise, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and fit for purpose. Working closely with global stakeholders and subject matter experts, you’ll help define future-state processes, support ERP upgrades, and act as a change agent—driving adoption, quality, and continuous improvement across our data landscape.

What will you be doing?
  • Support the design and implementation of standardised master data processes as part of a global SAP ERP transformation.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to define data requirements and ensure alignment with global standards.
  • Act as a data steward—owning master data quality, governance, and compliance across systems.
  • Lead and support activities related to data migration, enrichment, validation, and archiving.
  • Contribute to the development of business process maps and template design for master data.
  • Partner with external system integrators to ensure successful delivery of the Master Data workstream.
  • Drive testing efforts, including script creation, execution, and defect resolution during SIT and UAT phases.
  • Support training and change management activities, acting as a change agent for the Master Data workstream.
  • Manage reporting needs and ensure data integrity across global reporting platforms.
  • Participate in programme governance, including design authority, planning, and status reporting.
What will you need to be successful?

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong foundation in master data management, with proven experience in data stewardship, governance, and change management—particularly within SAP environments.

A background in manufacturing, supply chain, or finance is critical, along with hands-on experience in SAP MM and related modules. Familiarity with material master structures in the medical device industry and a solid understanding of data quality, compliance, and validation will be key.

You’ll thrive if you’re a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. SAP certifications, Agile methodology knowledge, and tools like Signavio are a plus!
